Ogunquit and York, Maine 1-Day Summer Itinerary
Living in Portland, Maine has its perks, and one of our favorites is the many beautiful destinations for a weekend getaway. Our go-to spot for a day trip is Ogunquit and York, ME, with a stay at the breathtaking Cliff House Maine. This place holds a special significance for us as it’s where my husband and I got engaged, and where we often visit for relaxation, good food, and the views.

Cliff House Maine luxury hotel
Morning
- Start your day in Ogunquit with breakfast at The Greenery Cafe, a cozy breakfast spot that serves from-scratch dishes and delicious pastries.
- After breakfast, explore the Marginal Way, a scenic coastal trail that runs along the Atlantic Ocean and offers stunning views of the rocky coastline and crashing waves.
- Spend some time at Ogunquit Beach, a beautiful white sand beach that’s perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing.
- TIP: Parking can be challenging during peak season, so I recommend going early in the morning.
Afternoon
- Head to York and visit the Nubble Lighthouse and take a walk along the rocks and enjoy the stunning views of the lighthouse and the ocean.
- Grab lunch at Lobster in the Rough, a casual outdoor seafood restaurant that offers fresh lobster rolls, steamed clams, and other seafood dishes. This is a fun place to enjoy live music, delicious food, and outdoor games and is a short 8 minute drive from Nubble Lighthouse.
- After lunch, head to Cliff House Maine to check in for the night, a luxurious oceanfront resort that offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Take some time to explore the resort and enjoy the views. If you have other accommodations or you’re looking for a different price point, there are a lot of options in the area and you can still visit Cliff House Maine for the views and restaurants.
Evening
- End your day with dinner at The Tiller Restaurant, which is located inside Cliff House Maine and offers an upscale dining experience with beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean and Cape Neddick.
- TIP: If you aren’t staying at Cliff House Maine, you can still dine at The Tiller Restaurant or any of the other restaurant’s on the property. If you prefer to try somewhere off resort, I recommend Walkers Maine.
- TIP: Make a dinner reservation before sunset if you would like to take in all the views from your table or plan to grab a cocktail in the lobby to enjoy sunset before a late dinner. On weekends, they are known to have live music in the lobby.
