11 Travel Essentials For Your Next Trip
Whether you’re jetting off to a tropical paradise or embarking on a business trip, having the right travel essentials can make your journey much more enjoyable and convenient. Here are some must-have items that we recommend packing for your next travel experience:
- Carry-On Bag: Opt for a compact carry-on bag to streamline your belongings. One popular option is the Away carry-on suitcase, which I highly recommended. Choosing a smaller suitcase encourages efficient packing and ensures you have everything you need without overpacking. When packing, focus on versatile clothing items that can be mixed and matched to create different outfits. It’s also helpful to plan your outfits in advance and take pictures of them, so you know exactly what to wear each day. If checking a bag is a must, be sure to put at least one additional outfit and toiletries in a carry-on in case of any lost or delayed bag issues!
- Noise Cancelling Headphones: Long flights or noisy environments can be tiring and disruptive. Invest in a pair of noise-cancelling headphones to create a peaceful oasis wherever you go. These headphones block out ambient sounds, allowing you to enjoy your favorite music, audiobooks, or simply relax without distractions. My personal favorite at the moment is the new Apple AirPods. (But, if you want to use the plane’s media options, if any, expect to use their cheap headphones!)
- Packing Cubes: Keep your luggage organized and make unpacking a breeze with packing cubes. These lightweight and compact organizers help you separate different items, such as clothing, accessories, and toiletries. They also compress your belongings, maximizing space in your suitcase and making it easier to find what you need.
- Reusable Water Bottle: Staying hydrated is essential during your travels. Instead of relying on single-use plastic bottles, bring a reusable water bottle. Look for one that is durable, leak-proof, and easy to carry. Many airports and cities now have water bottle filling stations, so you can refill on the go and reduce your environmental impact. I like to stay hydrated during flights, so I pack my 74 oz water bottle from Amazon. They have tons of colors and brands! (And, I’ve read about other reasons why you should opt for bottled water on board or filling up your bottle at the airport as opposed to having the plane’s fountain water.)
- Crossbody Bag: When exploring new destinations, it’s important to keep your valuables secure. A crossbody bag is an excellent choice as it allows you to keep your essentials close, and in front of you, while keeping your hands free. My personal favorite at the moment is the Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag. If you’re looking to splurge, the Clare V. Grande Fanny would be my choice.
- First Aid Kit: Be prepared for minor mishaps by carrying a basic first aid kit. Include essentials such as band-aids, pain relievers, antihistamines for allergies, stomach aids, and any specific medications you may need during your trip. It’s always better to be safe than sorry, especially when you’re away from home.
- Hydrating Face Mask: Traveling can take a toll on your skin due to changes in climate, air quality, and long hours of exposure. Pack a hydrating face mask to replenish moisture and refresh your skin. Look for travel-sized options or sheet masks that are easy to use and mess-free. I order my personal favorite, MEDIHEAL Intensive Hydrating Mask on Amazon.
- Neck Pillow: For long flights or road trips, a neck pillow can provide much-needed comfort and support. Look for a pillow that is inflatable or memory foam, as they offer better customization and adjustability. I recently ordered the Ostrichpillow travel pillow for a long flight and loved it! For the germaphobes out there, consider packing the pillow case inside of your carry-on and adding it to the pillow only just before using it!
- Travel Silk Pillowcase: A silk pillowcase is not only a luxury item for your beauty routine but also a travel essential. Its smooth and gentle surface can help prevent hair breakage, reduce frizz, and improve hydration in both your skin and hair. Slip Silk’s pure silk pillowcase is my choice!
- Portable Lighted Mirror: This compact mirror is equipped with built-in lighting to provide optimal visibility, even in dimly lit spaces, such as your hotel room. It’s perfect for applying makeup, grooming, or checking your appearance on the go.
- Outlet Converter (If Needed): One of the easiest things to forget about when traveling overseas is the fact that some countries use different outlets. Be sure to look into whether you need an outlet converter before going, as the airports will likely overcharge for these necessities!
I follow this packing list for every trip, and by packing these travel essentials, you’ll be well-prepared for your next adventure. Happy travels!
