7 Romantic Things to Do in Savannah
Savannah, GA is often considered a romantic city due to its charming cobblestone streets, historic architecture, and lush parks and gardens. The city’s romantic allure is also attributed to its rich history and Southern hospitality, as well as its close proximity to the scenic coastal areas. The city’s numerous restaurants and cafes also offer intimate dining experiences, making it a popular destination for couples looking for a romantic getaway. I’m sharing 7 romantic things to include on your Savannah trip, plus some recommendations for your hotel stay. In addition to this list, be sure to plan time to just walk around Savannah with no specific destination and enjoy the beauty of the parks and the city. 1. Picnic in Forsyth Park: There are 22 squares and parks in Savannah and they are all located across a one-square-mile area of downtown. Take a leisurely walk through the most famous of the parks, Forsyth Park and find your perfect spot in the park for a picnic. There is an open container policy in Savannah, so pick up a cocktail from your favorite restaurant or bring a bottle of champagne to celebrate.
2. Take a riverboat cruise: Walk along the iconic River Street and take a ride on the Savannah River Boat. This boat offers a variety of tours, including a regular afternoon boat tour and a brunch tour with great views of Savannah.
3. Relax at a rooftop pool or the beach: Savannah is the perfect destination for couples looking to unwind and connect. And what better way to relax than by soaking up the sun at a rooftop pool or lounging on the beach? Tybee Island is located about 20 minutes outside of Savannah and offers beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean, but if you prefer a rooftop pool, I highly recommend booking a stay at Perry Lane Hotel.
4. Sip a cocktail: There are so many amazing places to enjoy a cocktail in Savannah, but here are my top 5 recommendations:
- Artillery Bar: After a day of exploring, head to Artillery Bar for some drinks. This bar is located in a historic building and offers a variety of craft cocktails.
- Alley Cat Lounge: After a day at the beach, head back to Savannah for some drinks at Alley Cat Lounge. This bar offers a variety of craft cocktails and has a cozy atmosphere.

Perry Lane Hotel’s Peregrin: Finish your trip with a rooftop cocktail at Perry Lane Hotel’s Peregrin with cityscape views, frozen cocktails, and small plates. - Electric Moon Skytop Lounge + Moon Deck: With river views on the JW Marriott Hotel roof, you will find creative cocktails and a beautiful outdoor space that includes a slide for adults and kids.
- Jen’s & Friends: Known as the “Home of 300 martinis” with more than 300 martinis and 200 beers on the menu.
5. Dinner at Olde Pink House: For a romantic dinner, head to The Olde Pink House. This restaurant is located in a historic mansion and offers classic Southern cuisine. Be sure to try their fried chicken and shrimp and grits.
6. Hire a photographer: Booking a photographer for pictures on a romantic weekend is a great way to capture and preserve the memories of your special trip. By hiring a photographer, you can relax and enjoy your time together without worrying about capturing the perfect shot. Here are some of my favorite pictures from our 1-year anniversary photoshoot.

If you’re interested in booking a photographer, I highly recommend my sister, Ashley Clarke Pavlick Photography! She made us feel so comfortable and my husband loved how easy and fun the entire experience was. Mention you came from this blog post for 10% off your booking!
7. Visit Wormsloe Historic Site: Wormsloe Historic Site is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Savannah. Located just 10 miles southeast of the city, this site is home to a stunning avenue of oak trees, dating back to the 18th century, that will take your breath away. Whether you’re a history buff, nature lover, or just looking for a picturesque spot to take some photos, Wormsloe Historic Site is definitely worth the short drive from Savannah.
Romantic Places to Stay
Here are some hotel options for your stay:
- Hotel Bardo: Tucked just outside Savannah’s busiest squares, Hotel Bardo feels like a stylish hideaway—design-forward, calm, and made for lingering. Expect chic rooms, a strong food-and-drink scene, and a resort-like pool setup that’s perfect for a slow afternoon between walks through the historic district. Great for travelers who want Savannah charm with a modern, boutique-luxury vibe.
- Municipal Grand: Set in the heart of downtown Savannah, Municipal Grand blends historic character with a polished, elevated feel. We’re staying here later this year and the location looks perfect to explore on foot (coffee, squares, shopping, dinner), while the interiors lean classic-meets-modern.
- Perry Lane Hotel: One of Savannah’s most iconic luxury stays, Perry Lane is all about “treat-yourself” energy—elegant rooms, thoughtful service, and a rooftop scene that’s a destination on its own. It’s ideal for a special occasion weekend, especially if you love being steps from the best restaurants and want a hotel that feels lively, sophisticated, and unmistakably Savannah.
- Other hotels to consider that we haven’t tried yet:
- Bellwether House
- The Alida
- The Drayton Hotel
- JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District
- Thompson Savannah
- Keep your eyes peeled for the opening of Recess, which we believe is coming in 2026!
